Domestic wastewater flows by gravity to a lift station and then is treated in a sequencing batch reactor treatment plant. Treated effluent is discharged to a leachfield. Primary contaminants associated with this type of discharge include nitrogen compounds. The facility is located 5 miles east of Vadito at 5224 State Highway 518 in Section 10, T22N, R13E, Taos County. Ground water most likely to be affected is at a depth of approximately 5-7 feet and has a total dissolved solids concentration of approximately 300 milligrams per liter. Willms, Owner, proposes to discharge up to 1,200 gallons per day of combined agricultural and domestic wastewater from a slaughterhouse. Agricultural wastewater is generated from the wash down of slaughterhouse operations and domestic wastewater is generated from the facility's restroom and three wash sinks. Blood is collected in a 750-gallon below ground concrete holding tank and offal is collected in plastic drums for offsite disposal. Potential contaminants associated with this type of discharge include nitrogen compounds. The facility is located along Hwy 55, approximately 1 mile south of Mountainair, in Section 6, T03N, R07E, Torrance County. Ground water beneath the site is at a depth of approximately 198 feet and has a total dissolved solids concentration of approximately 2,400 milligrams per liter.
