The Valles Caldera Trust has decided to extend the public review and comment period for the Environmental Assessment (EA) on proposed activities regarding the Multiple Use and Sustained Yield of Forage Resources on the Valles Caldera National Preserve. The EA considers the effects of seasonal livestock grazing, the management of fences and water sources, and upgrades of a barn and outbuilding. Activities are guided by goals, measurable objectives, and monitored outcomes. The public review and comment period has been extended to February 12, 2009. Following the review and comment period, the Trust will draft findings regarding the anticipated significance of the expected environmental effects. These findings will then be made available to the public for an additional 30 day review and comment period. A copy of the 250 page EA which includes a 10 page Executive Summary can be downloaded from the Trust's website, www.vallescaldera.gov.
