The Lordsburg Municipal Schools will hold an open public meeting at 6 PM on Wednesday August 24th at the Central Elementary School Gymnasium. Since the previous public meeting regarding this project, held in April, consultation has been initiated by the Lordsburg Municipal School District with the NM Historic Preservation Division. The purpose of this meeting is to continue the process of determining what to do with the Old Lordsburg High School (listed on the New Mexico State Register Of Cultural Properties). LMS and PSFA have commissioned The Planning Site, P.C. in association with Cherry/See/Reames Architects PC to assist LMS and the community in reaching this determination. The School District will give full consideration to prudent and feasible alternatives to adversely affecting the building, if any exist. This meeting will allow a platform for the community members, LMS, and others to present their prudent and feasible alternatives for making use of the building. These alternatives should be ideas that have been researched, and have funding sources so that the plans can be implemented within a reasonable time frame to prevent the building from further deterioration. This meeting is intended to provide public input into this process, and formal proposals should be made at the meeting. The meeting will last for 2 hours, with public comment. Meeting minutes will be made available on the LMS website, www.lmsed.org after the meeting, and will be held open for public comment for 15 days after the meeting. For inquiries concerning this meeting, please see www.lmsed.org or call 575-542-9361. Journal: July 25-29, 2016 Left-red    Print Legal   Email-red   Published on: Tue July 26, 2016
